Social Security

This exhibition was commissioned by Canada House, London and I drew on our family album to tell the story of my family's migration to Montreal. Most of the pictures were actually taken in the 1970s.

I used the voice of my mother to provide some detailed captions that appear as part of the work on the wall. They come from tape recordings and letters from "home."

In order to dramatise the album nature of the pictures, they were blown up to a large size. Nowadays, of course, everything is in a large size.

The show was hung at The Showroom Gallery, Bethnal Green in London's East End.
