Imagining Childhood

I have been photographing the kids at the NAZ Care Home for HIV+ children for a couple of years. It's another unusual situation where there is a confidentiality situation and also where one is seeking to make images that get away from the media and charity type pictures of victims.

This is first of long term series involving eight of the kids who have families of their own. I am planning to revisit them every couple of years to see how they get on with their lives.

I'd like to thank Anjali Gopalan, Director, who allowed me access and her staff who have extremely helpful. This exhibition was first seen at the Art Gallery of the College of Staten Island/CUNY in April/May 2006.
